We choose our suppliers very carefully.  We want to be sure they are businesses with strong ethical values who supply high quality environmentally friendly products.  Here we outline the key reasons we have chosen to support them.

Tri Nature

Tri Nature is a long-established Australian owned company that prides itself on producing high quality products that care for the well-being of humankind, our home and our environment.

Products are developed by a chemist to ensure top quality and consistency.  They are not tested on animals and contain no animal products or by-products.  All are safe for children, most sensitive skin types, asthmatics and allergy sufferers.

All products are phosphate and nitrate free and low-sudsing making them friendlier on our waterways and safe to use in septic and wastewater management systems.

Products are highly concentrated which is good value and reduces packaging and shipping costs.  All packaging is recyclable.

BANG Consortium

BANG stands for “Building a New Generation”.  BANG bags were developed by a group of mums in Sydney who wanted access to more environmentally friendly alternatives to plastic shopping bags and wanted them to be ethically produced through Fair Trade networks in Bangladesh.

All BANG bags are made from sustainably sourced natural materials like jute and cotton and are fully biodegradable at the end of their useful life.  As well being useful alternatives to plastic bags they are also stylish with a range of contemporary designs and colours.

Ecocern

Ecocern is an Australian owned company that makes new products out of genuine 100% Australian post-consumer waste - recycled paper that have been retrieved from your home or office paper recycling bin.  The products have natural kraft brown colour and are not re-bleached.

Bokashi Composting Australia

Bokashi Composting Australia has taken the Japanese technique of composting kitchen food waste with a fermentation process and made it available in Australia.  An Australian owned company; they have a very strong commitment to protecting the environment.

All products are made in Australia and the black and white Bokashi buckets we stock are made from 70% recycled plastic.

O’bon

O’bon is an innovative company that has developed techniques of reusing waste products such as newspaper to make new products, saving forests in the process!

O’bon is an ISO 9001 (for product quality management) and ISO 14001 (for environment management) company.  O’bon has an ultra-modern production facility in China that is almost completely noise and pollution free.  Their products are all non-toxic using plant based inks and water-based glues.

Sahara Bloom

Sahara Bloom has created a line of bamboo clothing and homeware products that are very high quality and well designed.  Products are designed in Australia and made in China, where the bamboo is sustainably sourced and processed, under monitored ethical working conditions.  Recyclable packaging is used whenever possible.

Soap Art

Soap Art is a family run business hand making soap in Healesville, Victoria.  All products are long lasting and only use high quality ingredients including essential oils.  Packaging is minimal and recyclable.

E-String Bags

E-string Bags is a family run Australian company bringing back the traditional string shopping bags in exciting new colours and designs.  All bags are made of eco-friendly cotton and can carry up to 14kg of shopping each!  E-string Bags are high quality and long lasting products at an affordable price.

Universal Village

Universal Village is a local importer of 100% Fair Trade products.  All products are personally vetted by the company to make sure they are legitimate and of a very high quality.  As much as is possible, value-adding of products is done “in-country” to provide additional benefit to local communities.  For example, tea is bagged and boxed in Sri Lanka to provide additional work for women working with Fair Trade co-operatives.

Coris

In 1958, Barbara Sansoni, a colourist, & artist, created the “BAREFOOT” concept out of a need for a rehabilitation program for young Sri Lankan women, who had limited schooling and skills.  Today BAREFOOT is a premier textile design company, exporting exquisite hand woven fabrics, toys and linen worldwide.

Barefoot artisans are dedicated weavers and needlewomen who, without time constraints of mass production, are able to produce premium quality workmanship.  Barefoot Sri Lanka opposes exploitive practices and each artisan earns a real wage enabling them to support their families with self-respect and dignity.  All products are 100% hand woven fabric, 100% hand made & use 100% natural fibres and eco-friendly dyes.

Yarra Coffee Company

Yarra Coffee Company is a local family business that roasts high quality Arabica Fair Trade coffee beans.  Packaging is kept minimal as is travel distances to our shop in Healesville.

Aura Natural Skin Care

Aura Natural Skin Care products are handmade in Greensborough, VIC, close to Healesville, using high quality organic natural ingredients and formulated carefully to care for the skin.  Their products were developed out of a personal need for skin care that didn’t trigger skin irritations or hay fever by a concerned mum.  They contain no fillers or artificial ingredients and they are not tested on animals.  Packaging is recyclable.

EcoDirect

Moltex nappies are distributed by EcoDirect, an Australian owned company who supports Greening Australia’s - Trees for Life - program by donating a percentage of sales from every box of nappies sold in Australia.

ETIKO - it means ethical!

Etiko is working to stamp out child labour and to provide a fair living wage to workers and help communities in developing countries.  They have developed a range of sports balls, sneakers and clothing that is fair trade.  The quality is just as good as brands like Nike and Converse but carry a far superior legacy through treating their workers ethically.  Where possible materials are certified organic, Halal and Forest Stewardship Council approved.  Etiko is an Australian owned business located in Ferntree Gully Victoria, close to Healesville.

Jasper’s Coffee

Jasper’s Coffee is Australia’s leading Fair Trade & Organic coffee roaster.  They roast a large range of the highest quality Arabica coffee beans from around the world.  With a strong corporate social responsibility policy and great environmental credentials, Jasper’s allows us to satisfy a love of good coffee without having a negative global impact.

Riverside Foods

Riverside Foods is a small Australian owned business that produces a range of organic foods in Warburton, Victoria, close to Healesville.  Their products are free from additives and presented in minimal, recyclable packaging.

Thomas Chipman

The Thomas Chipman brand of organic snack chips is managed by Yarra Valley Snack Foods, an Australian owned company based in Lilydale, Victoria.  Their use of high quality ingredients and good food handling practices creates a range of wonderful snacks made locally in the Yarra Valley.

Soyalchemi

Soyalchemi is a small family run business pouring soy candles in Healesville, Victoria.  All candles use Australian soy bean oil and cotton wicks.

Olive Oil Soap Company

The Australian owned family business is based in the Hunter Valley, NSW and produces high quality olive oil soap enhanced with essential oils.  Product packaging is very minimal.

Studio Antic

Studio Antic is a small Melbourne-based business that produces high quality visual products with strong environmental credentials.  Recycled paper and vegetable based dyes are used in all products which are made to order.

Baby BeeHinds

What started as a small business with one mother sewing cloth nappies has developed into a successful Australian company producing high quality modern cloth nappies out of environmentally friendly fabrics.

Nappies are made in China under ethical working conditions.
